Habitat’s Home Ownership Program

By partnering with Habitat, Habitat homeowners achieve the independence needed to build a better life for themselves and their families. Habitat homeowners receive financial and new homeowner education, build their home alongside volunteers, and pay an affordable mortgage.

  • Meet the HUD income guidelines.

    Provide all requested documentation.

Meet Habitat’s 3 criteria - Need for housing, willingness to partner, and ability to pay a zero to low interest mortgage.

  • The number of applicants we accept are based on the number of homes we build each year.

For applicants that pass initial screening, our selection committee will schedule a financial review and home visit.

  • Once accepted to the program, candidate homeowners complete program requirements:

    Financial education courses

    Sweat equity

Work on the building of their own home alongside volunteers.

  • When a home build is complete, the candidate homeowner and their family purchase the home with an affordable mortgage and we celebrate with a home dedication!
